I'm pretty sure most people (at least my friends) don't bother too much with this so it's not make or break especially if you're starting out. However once you do it, you don't have to mess with it again. And in my mind I'm getting the best performance from my bindings.

Basically if you are snowboarding properly you should be stacked using your core to drive your edges the full length of your board.
